It has been so long since I have done a still life. I am so used to doing the bright children on the beach and I had some paint left over so I decided to do two small still life paintings. I really enjoyed it. I especially love the yellow craduating to a deep crimson red as it gets darker. There is nothing prettier to me.
This painting I did for a national contest and it was a finalist. The subject was tomatoes. My sister's little boys were eating tomatoes in the patch and I just loved the composition!!! It was so fun to apint it.
This was one of my favorite paintings to paint. This is a good friend and such a beautiful little girl. I loved the way she was standing and her dress was gorgeous!!!!
Ballerinas are my favorite subject to paint. I especially love to paint Carrie. She is so beautiful and everything she does is so graceful. I am going to hang this in the dance room at the Methodist church.
I just had to paint this man who is on the corner of Park Avenue and Lyman everyday. He sits out and people watches and relaxes all day. I know there is a story about him.
I painted a series of sea life and wild life for some local shops here and loved painting this flamingo. It was so much more casual than the earlier paintings and it was fun to experiment with.
All of my children have attended the Methodist School and our family attends the church. It is just so special to us and I think it is absolutely beautiful!!!!
This was my first palette knife painting. I did a little brush work but the majority is palette knife. It was so fun just getting thick paint and spreading over the canvas without haveing to be exact.
This was one of my favorite commissions. I just loved the colors in the bathing suits and it was such a beautiful composition. This was a Christmas present for her husband and I loved doing it.
For Christmas I wanted to paint a special painting of the kids for my Christmas card. I painted this painting at the Maitland Art Center by the little pond. Lila was so small I actually had to bring her home and snap some pictures of her in the yard and then paint her in. She definately would have jumped in.
This is one of the first portraits that I have done. I loved doing McKenna because she first is beautiful but I love her hair and her coloring. Her mother took some pictures for me and she just hit the nail on the head with one. I was so happy with the way it turned out.
One of my best friends and I happened to have babies one week apart (not planned). We got together for her middle child's birthday party and I caught this picture of them. They just looked so sweet, I had to paint it. Lila will cherish this forever!!!
This was the second painting I did in my Winter Park series. There are so many beautiful weddings there, I just had to include it.

Park Plaza Gardens $200.00 9 x 12 framed oil on canvas
This summer I ventured out on Park Avenue to take pictures of Winter Park scenes to paint. We are so lucky to live in this beautiful little town and I can't believe it took me so long. This was one of my first in this series and was a painting that was selected to be in the Crealde School of Art show.
5 x 5 oil on canvas $45.00
After visiting South Carolina I could not wait to paint this little painting. It was one of the first abstract paintings that I have done and it was so fun to not think about any rules. I could just be in the moment.
This was one of those days when everything was perfect. School was almost out and the children were so excited. The weather was just right and the tide was low enough for the kids to go out forever and still only come up to there knees.
After I completed this painting with thick paint it still needed a little edge so I used the palette knife. Loved it.
Although originally from Atlanta Georgia I have spent the majority of my life in South Carolina and Florida. I have been painting for 12 years but in the last few I have turned my hobby into a business.
I have been a finalist in a national contest as well as being selected to have my work in local shows.
My work can be seen in several shops in Winter Park as well as Montgomery Alabama.
I specialize in oil on canvas commissions of families, homes and pets but I also enjoy acrylics. All of my work can be seen on my website www.heidilifrage.com
